The village of Port Alfred is exactly mid-way between East London and Port Elizabeth and has a wonderful temperate climate. Average winter temperatures are between 20 and 22 degrees C and summer temperatures hover around the 27 degrees mark.

The Kowie river which is navigable for 28 kilometers is one of the main attractions in Port Alfred. The river provides a number of facilities for boating enthusiasts including skiing and fishing. Port Alfred is well-known for its friendly village atmosphere, picturesque small boat harbour, which provides mooring facilities, and beautiful marina.

The beaches are unspoilt and magnificent. You can walk for miles along pristine coastline and see no footsteps other than your own.
